Nicolò Sasso
Born in Bari in 2001, Nicolò Sasso began studying guitar at the age of 10, then studied at Conservatory “Niccolò Piccinni” in Bari under the guidance of Pasquale Scarola (pre-academic courses) and Nando Di Modugno (Bachelor), graduating in 2021 with highest marks and honors, while also debuting in “M. De Falla” guitar orchestra of Bari.
He then earned his Master’s Diploma in Conservatory “Arrigo Boito” in Parma, under the guidance of Massimo Felici and Umberto Cafagna, also with highest marks and honors, while also studying occasionally under renowned figures of the classical guitar world, such as Oscar Ghiglia in Accademia Chigiana (2022), Aniello Desiderio in Accademia di Musica Stefano Strata in Pisa (2022), Antonio Rugolo, Antigoni Goni in The Volterra Project (2024), Stefano Grondona, Timo Korhonen and Lorenzo Micheli.
He has won first prize in several international competitions, such as the UNESCO Prize in Palmanova, the Domenico Savino International Competition, the Premio Città di Barletta, and the Amigdala International Music Competition. In 2021, he won the Tour Music Fest international music competition with a piece of his own composition, inspired by the folkloric sounds of Brazil.
In 2023 he formed a duo with italo-brazilian tenor Stefano Roberto Moyses Colucci, with whom he brought forward a project of transcriptions of the Lieder cycle “Dichterliebe” by R. Schumann, which is now edited by Florestano Edizioni, under the technical supervision of Nando Di Modugno, Umberto Cafagna, Nicola Scardicchio, Luca Isolani and Maarten Vandembemden, and available for purchase on all platforms.
Currently, he is furthering his studies at Conservatory “Santa Cecilia” in Rome with a Master’s degree in Chamber Music and a Bachelor in Opera Singing as a bass.
He regularly performs in Italy as a soloist, playing traditional repertoire as well as new music of his composition and his own transcriptions of mainly piano music.
